I come from a low income family with a single parent, and I was hoping that a GPA of 3.8 and twelve years of sports and a national ranking would help me get into the best colleges in the US. However, since 2008 had the lowest acceptance rates ever among elite universities, so I did not make it into any of my reach schools, but managed to make it into my safety schools. What separated me from most students is obviously rhythmic gymnastics. A national team member with competitions all over the United States and occasionally internationally, I hoped this would get me into a well-endowed college where I could learn for free.
