When you look at a major like computer science you have to also look at the surrounding area. Stanford is in the middle of Silicon Valley which instantly opens up internship opportunities at surrounding companies.
Along the west coast, hands down it would be Stanford. However on the east coast, you have MIT, Cornell, and my favorite- The University of Maryland, College Park.
At UMD, you are at a prime location for companies to hire you straight of college, if not during college. You have the government agencies, if not the private. The NSA, FBI, and all the other top notch agencies are in the area and are always looking for top notch programmers.
Being part of the UMD CS program, I'd have to admit that the coursework is difficult and challenging. However, having said that, the challenge leads you to learn more, and thus be more experienced in the language.
As a side note, here is an interesting article about the increase in enrollment in computer science programs: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/17/science/17comp.html?partner=rssnyt&emc=rss
